This illustration and short animation were both inspired by John Butler's acoustic song "Ocean" and were intended to be compliments to one another. The illustration of John Butler was done prior, and its intended purpose was to be one of Rollingstone Magazine's illustrated musician pages. I then thought that it would be cool to add a motion component, where the magazine actually had a QR code so that readers could scan it on their phones and it would direct them right to the animation. This element not only adds more variety and stimulation with movement but also with sound, as the animation is timed to a section of John Butler's 2012 Studio Version of "Ocean".
